From the recording Squashed

I dreamed that this was the 1st track on Nirvana's "In Utero" album. Some friends and I were listening to it in the car, and I was thinking what a good song it was. So when I woke up I reconstructed the song as best I could remember it, let it sit for a couple years, and reconstructed it again. Initially, this was the 1st track on the album, simply because it had been the 1st track on In Utero in the dream. But, as time passed, I grew less and less fond of the song (it was much better in the dream), and so it is now tucked away inconspicuously as track 11.

Another "dreamed song." I recorded a rougher, better version of it before this one, but I wanted to "spiff it up" for the album. The downfall of every good song...

Lyrics

You go up to the door and you know you're going to die
Shadow on the ground only those below survive
A slight hesitaton then you knock upon the door
Never questioning what you did it for
It's a normal looking house when you see it straight on
But few ever do and those that have are gone
