I have some really really awful records of Broadway operettas. I don’t know how old they are (old enough that there aren’t any dates listed anywhere on the records or their packaging), but they are horrible. I can’t stand to listen to more than about a minute of them at a time. …And yet, I love to sample them. I think the women’s voices are terrifying, and I like hearing them howl the same couple words over and over. With this song, I sampled the record as I turned it off, so it’s all warped and warbled. I have no idea what the woman was actually singing when I cut her off, but it sounded like “Heaven’s ’round my feet” to me.
